Screening report 25.04.2009
I had a screening on last Friday at Naked Loft, Shinjyuku. It was the biggest venue for my film so far.
I opened the door and said hello to Ishizaki-san who had been working so hard for this screening by making flyer, arranging the talk, etc.
Later, Narita-san and Illcommons-san appeared. They were my talk guests on the night. I've never talked with them in person, so I introduced myself and we started talking about the post-screening talk.
Narita-san is a info-shop "Irregular Rhythm Asylum" ( http://a.sanpal.co.jp/irregular/ ), so he brought T-shirts, coffee, and some other stuff to sell during the event. They looked very unique and interesting. (Also, the t-shirt he wore on the day said "This is what democracy looks like!" was so cool!)
Illcommons-san is a contemporary artist, activist, and university lecturer. He took out a big baby doll with peace/activism badges and also plastic computer-shape toys which speaks "Arabic"!
When I joined the peace walk to Oxford, I was interested in peace campaigners' belongings. If I had to walk 60 miles, I tried to reduce my belongings, but people carried "peace flags", "Guantanamo Bay suit", and so on! I had a similar feeling on that day!
In the beggining, around 20 people came. But quite a few people came to see the film later. So, when the film was finished, almost all of the seats were occupied!
During the 10 minutes break after the film, some people asked the donations for "Save the Two Persons Arrested for Demanding an End to an Antiforeign Agitation".
Their statement (English) is below;

Then me, Narita-san, and Illcommons-san started the talk session. I took questions from them, then I talked. Their questions were "art and activistm", "oppression and people's counterattack with homour", "Brian's supporters", "importance of music in documentary films", etc.
From left: Narita-san, me, and Illcommons-san.
The random photos and YouTube videos of Brian which Illcommons-san picked up from Internet were displayed on the screen during the talk.
The photo on the screen was the artwork donated to Brian's peace campaign from Banksy, the Britain's top graffiti artist. Unfortunately, the artwork was taken away by police in 2006. Brian has the possessive right of the graffiti, so Brian must be a rich man!!
Suddenly, I gasped at the video on the screen. It was me in the parliament square!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Normally, tourists are only interested in Brian, and took pictures of him. But sometimes, me and other supporters are also asked to join the photo or video. But I had no idea someone found it and showed it during the post-screening talk!! Oh. My. God!!
The talk itself was about an hour. I really enjoyed talking with Narita-san and Illcommons-san. I also answered the questions from the audiences.
Thank you very much Endo-san for recommending my film to Naked Loft (the venue). Also a big thank you for the organiser, Ishizaki-san, talk guests Narita-san and Illcommons-san.
I got a souvenir from Naked Loft. It says "Brian & Co. DVD 1,500 yen". It is very cute :-)
