Maria Gallastegui will be taking her case to the High Court of Appeal in order to challenge the new restrictions imposed on on-going 24hr protest in and around the areas of Parliament Square and and Whitehall. Maria is living in a night shelter following her eviction in March this year. She had maintained a 6 year Peace Strike Picket at Parliament Square, and does not claim benefits.
Maria started her strike due to the SOCPA 2005 legislation ( Serious Crime and Police Act 2005) which came into force and threatened to finally clear Brian Haw's 4 year encampment. She had supported Brian since meeting in 2001, and started her strike on May 8th 2006 before the then camp was down sized on 23rd May.
She is still "ON STRIKE FOR PEACE" and will continue to be until all wars of aggression have ceased in the Middle East.
Challenges against the war in Afghanistan and associated conflicts will continue.......
Parliament Square is a high profile location and is of significant importance to protest in this country.
Court of Appeal
