Invitation to Skillshare2013 - 9th & 10th March @ Freedom
We'd like to invite you to our activist skillsharing weekend on 9th and 10th March 2013 at Freedom Bookshop. Sessions will cover a wide range of practical things including demos, lockons, scaffolding, fitwatching, climbing, knowing your legal rights, self-care medic training, tech tools for activists, trauma support and eviction resistance. The event is free to attend tho any donations will be split between the Network for Police Monitoring and Freedom Bookshop. More details about the event are available on our website: http://skillshare2013.wordpress.com/
When and Where is it?
Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th March, 10am to 6.30pm. Contact email@example.com for any questions, in particular in relation to mobility and childcare requirements . Skillshare2013 will be held at Freedom Bookshop & Social Centre at Angel Alley,84b Whitechapel High Street, London E1 7QX.
Who are we?
We are a small group of antifascist, anti-capitalist and environmental activists. The idea for an event of this nature came out of a series of post-demo pub-based reflections! Too many moans about nothing being planned, waiting for someone else to make the next move… we feel its time to take back the initiative. Several groups will be delivering workshops at the event including Fitwatch, Green and Black Cross Legal and Medics, Eviction Resistance Network, Activist Trauma Support and Hacktionlab.
Who is it for?
The event is open to any individual who is seeking radical social change and respects the principle of using a diversity of tactics. Basically anyone who gives a shit about our world and the people in it, and wants to do something about it. We would love new people to come who maybe haven't had the opportunity to learn these sorts of skills before. We’d also like to support the return to direct action for those who’ve been doing other things in recent years, whether that be a job, social or family life. Our provision of a kidspace, provided by a London based childcare collective, is a vital element of our commitment to seeking inclusivity. More details about this are available on our website.
Please read our Safer Spaces Policy on the website before coming. Cops and journalists are requested not to attend.
Please circulate this invitation amongst your friends and networks and hopefully we will see you there :).
